Assam University came into existence through Assam (Central) University Act, 1989 (Act. No. XIII). It was established in 1994,since then the University is steadily becoming an excellent centre of learning.
The campus, situated in Dargakona, about 20 kms from Silchar, is set amid sprawling hillocks, a typical landscape in the North East. The campus in an area of 600 acres surrounded by lakes and mountains provides an ideal environment for academic pursuit.
Drawing its 230 plus faculty from many disciplines, from all over the country, the university sustains a multidisciplinary approach to higher education.

Qualification & Experience:-
1. Masters degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point scale.
2. Five years experience as Lecturer in a college or a University with experience in educational administration or Comparable experience in research establishment and / or other institutions of higher education. Or Five years of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or in an equivalent post.
Desirable:-
a) Member of any organized accounts service having at least 5 years experience in a post with Grade pay of Rs. 5400 or more Or CA/ ICWA or MBA Finance with 5 years of service in equivalent grade Or Five years experience in immediately lower grade Or Assistant Registrar / Assistant Finance Officer with 5 years experience in University administration.
b) Proficiency in computerized accounting system & adaptability to E-Governance.
c) Degree in Law.
d) Good Communication Skill.
Job Description:-
a) Conduct of Examination for various course
b) General Administration / Finance & Accounts.
c) Conduct of Administrative training as well as vigilance matter.
d) Supervision of various University Programmer / Projects.
e) Any other Work.
Age:- As on 13.07.2010 not above the age limit for direct recruitment under
Group A category of GOI.
Networking Engineer:-

Qualification & Experience:-
BE / B.Tech / in Computer science & Engineering / Telecommunication Engineering / Information Technology with at least 50% of the marks in the qualifying examination. Preference will be given to candidates having higher qualification & working experience in higher educational institutions of repute or industry.
Desirable:-
Minimum 2 years experience in the field of Networking & related works.
Senior Technical Assistant:-

Pay Scale:- 9,300-34,800 + GP 4,200
Age:- Max 40 years as on 13.07.2010.
Qualification & Experience:-
BE/ B.Tech (Electronics / Electrical / Instrumentation) Or M.Sc (Instrumentation / Electronics) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and relevant experience of two years in higher educational institute.
Technical Assistant:-

Qualification & Experience:-

2 years relevant experience Or Diploma in Agricultural Engineering with 5 years experience in any Government organization in relevant field.
Laboratory Assistant:-

Qualification & Experience:-
B.Sc (Agricultural Engineering / Food Technology/ Agri Science / Diary / Fishery / Soil Science with 50% marks in the qualifying examination. Or 3 years Diploma in Food Technology / Diary / Fishery / Soil Science. Or 3 years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least one year experience in the relevant field / Mechanical Engineering.
Desirable:-
Experience in handling Laboratory equipments.
Library Attendant:-
